Elisa Minelli

​​In March 2023, in order to inaugurate the project the duo decides to launch the original jazz single 'Walking Alone on Snow' on all music streaming platforms.

Sergio composed and arranged the music and played the guitar, Elisa wrote the lyrics, sang and played the keyboard.

The track, recorded and mixed by Emilio Rossi at the Phoenix Studio in Castel Mella (Brescia, Italy), boasts the collaboration of Sergio Martinelli on double bass and Simone Giustini on drums.

In the first ten days the music video reached 5,900 YouTube views, while the song exceeded 3,500 Spotify streams in the United States of America.

In June 2023 Elisa and Sergio launch their new instrumental composition on all music streaming platforms: 'Hope', which was conceived on piano in the contemporary neoclassical music genre and it was later arranged by the duo also for classical guitar, transverse flute and strings.

The third part of the composition reminds the styles of the new age and progressive rock genres: it features the entry of Tibetan bell and screeching violin preceding the electric guitar solo over an accompaniment of piano, Hammond organ, bass guitar and drums.

The composition from a technical point of view is in a minor key, but in the last chord of the fourth and final section all the restlessness calms down, resolving on a major chord: the piece is meant to evoke hope for a better world. With this composition they say no to war, poverty and pollution because they care about our planet and the preservation of all living beings.

Caterina Lazzaroni is involved in the performance as a flautist. This track was also recorded and mixed by Emilio Rossi at the Phoenix Studio in Castel Mella (Brescia, Italy).

The piece 'War and Peace' (also 'War & Peace'), published in May 2024, follows the fil rouge of 'Hope': through hope, listening and love, it is possible to achieve peace. Music even without lyrics can shout loudly 'NO to wars and YES to worldwide peace'. In this case, the Minelli Lorandi Duo chose not to influence the listeners with words, but to leave them free to perceive from the solely sounds those strong emotions caused by wars such as terror, anguish, anger, despair, until they take a sigh of relief when peace arrives accompanied by a breath of freedom. 

The composition from a technical point of view was conceived on piano in the contemporary neoclassical music genre, and it was later arranged by the duo also for string quartet, classical guitar, woodwinds, percussion and rock band, even reaching the new age and progressive rock genres.

The piece begins with the dissonances of diminished seventh chords and rubato on the piano, the crescendos of the gong beats and the wind instruments: everything forewarns a war in the universe. With the entry of the string quartet, electric guitar, electric bass and drums, the war is evident in the accelerando, staccatos, gunshots evoked by rhythmic percussion as well as the snare drum typical of military bands.

The wars of our century, however, are not only those of the armed clash of armies with the loss of human lives and destruction, but also cyber wars. Here in the music video, there are also computer codes and sentences ‘waiting for response’ as a simulation of hacker attack with a large skull with binary code and the words ‘fatal error’ and ‘system error’ leading to a ‘system crash’ (meant not only in the IT sense but also more broadly as a breakdown of the entire society caused by operational malfunctions, to reiterate once again that wars are not the solution). 

The chromatic scale with its crescendo and accelerando leads to the change from the natural F minor (Aeolian mode) to the key of G flat major: here comes the peace with the wind chimes that banish all conflicts. In peace, the piano, the classical guitar and strings dialogue with each other in harmony.

With this composition Elisa Minelli (piano) and Sergio Lorandi (guitars, electric bass, drums and gongs) want to say NO to wars in the whole world: music and the arts in general can also be a tool for universal peace.

Davide Boccardi (violin and viola) and Massimiliana Maya Furlanis (cello) are involved in the performance as well. This third single of the duo was also recorded and mixed by Emilio Rossi at the Phoenix Studio in Castel Mella (Brescia, Italy). 

In October 2024 Elisa Minelli and Sergio Lorandi launch their fourth single on all music streaming platform, this time performing one of the most famous latin music songs composed by Violeta Sandoval Parra “Gracias a la Vida”.

The piece is a worldwide well-known Chilean folk song published by the great singer-songwriter Violeta Sandoval Parra in 1966. The lyrics in Spanish are pure poetry.

This fourth single of the duo is dedicated to the loved ones who passed away too soon in this life, Elisa and Sergio are grateful for the incredible memories with them.

This performance evokes the sounds of Latin American music with some new features such as the ukulele solo and some melodic lines on the guitar in response to singing. There are also other instruments typical of that mood: drums, shaker and clave. Moreover, it changes rhythm: the first stanza and the last one are free as a ballad for an expressive purpose, in order to emphasize the melody and the tenderness of the words, while the other stanzas are fast with the accompaniment that supports the passion and incisiveness of the words.

On the 26th October 2024 Elisa Minelli (pianist and singer) and Sergio Lorandi (guitar player) launched the project "Notes of Cinema🎵🎬 - the art of music in films" at the Municipal Library of Corzano (Brescia, Italy) performing pieces taken from the classical contemporary and crossover repertoire, jazz, latin, pop and international folk of the big screen and some of their original compositions, alternating the music with some readings.
